Change or assignment
China trademark assignment and change service
Last updated: October 23, 2026
A change of owner, company name or registered address must be recorded with CNIPA. Our $199 service prepares and files the recordal so the trademark register matches the business that owns and enforces the brand.
Direct answer
When the trademark register must be updated
Update the China trademark when the legal owner changes, the company changes its name or the registered address moves. An unrecorded change can interrupt renewal, customs recordal, marketplace complaints and enforcement because the documents no longer match the register.

FAQ
Change or assignment questions, answered
What is the difference between an assignment and a change?
An assignment transfers ownership to another legal person. A change updates the existing owner name or address without changing the owner identity.
Does a trademark assignment need to be recorded in China?
The CNIPA register should reflect the transfer so the new owner can rely on the right in renewals, customs and enforcement. Do not treat a private agreement alone as a complete operational transfer.
What does the $199 China trademark change service include?
The price covers one recordal filing, preparation support, the licensed-agency filing and the official fee. Any extra trademark or more complex document set is confirmed before work starts.
Can several trademarks be transferred together?
Yes. Send the full list and ownership documents. We confirm whether they can be handled as one coordinated instruction and quote each required filing.
What happens if the company name changed before renewal?
Complete the name-change recordal first or coordinate it with renewal. A mismatch between the current company documents and the CNIPA owner record can block the filing.
Can you review an assignment agreement?
We can identify the information needed for the CNIPA recordal and flag administrative gaps. Legal advice on the commercial agreement should be obtained from qualified counsel where needed.
